Tall Nico is a London based record digger, DJ and works at Rook Records in Hackney Wick where he helps run the daily tasks of the shop and manage an expansive collection of second-hand vinyl, a go-to destination for music lovers seeking rare and diverse selections across all genres.

By night, he takes the decks at some of London’s most sonically refined venues, including Jazu, Seed Library, and The Listening Room. Known for his seamless navigation across genres and eras, Tall Nico crafts dynamic sets where Brazilian rhythms flow into ’80s US boogie, effortlessly followed by deep house cuts.

This Thursday, the Gambit House Band explores the direct lineage of the groove—from the 1970s fusion of Herbie Hancock to the neo-soul revolution of Roy Hargrove.

The Sound: We’re tracing the path from Herbie’s cosmic funk to the soulful, grit-infused world of Hargrove’s RH Factor. It’s the same musical DNA that birthed the legendary collaborations with D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Questlove.

The House Band: Led by bassist and producer Basile Petite (Incognito, Roy Ayers), our 4-piece resident ensemble will be live-reworking these blueprints for an unfiltered, high-energy jazz club experience.
